The factory will be located in Oyugis situated in the highlands of western Kenya near Lake Victoria.

Why this area?
Oyugis is the capital of the Rachuonyo District, one of the most underserved areas in Kenya in regards to energy, public health, and food and water security.



​How will it be delivered?
Strategic areas of need will be identified in coordination with the assistance of the Nutrition Department at Rachuonyo District Hospital in Oyugis.  OKS Inc employees, in cooperation with Community Health Workers (CHW), will organize bi-weekly clinics in these selected villages.  Children will be evaluated according to WHO (World Health Organization) standards designed to identify those who are moderately to severely malnourished by weight-for-height ratios.  The caretakers for these children will be taught how to feed the RUTF to their children, and once they have demonstrated appropriate knowledge and technique, they will be given a two week supply of RUTF that will be stable without refrigeration in their home.  The children will be evaluated at each clinic until they have reached their weight-for-height goal.  Once the target weight/height is reached the children are followed at 3 month intervals for one year to ensure that their growth is sustained.
